This early Pennsylvania blanket chest is made of solid walnut. Notice the hand dovetailing on the corners and its single board construction. The top lifts up to reveal its original metal strap hinges and til or small lift lid box. The chest has its lock and a heart shaped metal key escutcheon with key. The blanket chest rests on small turned feet. The finish is in excellent condition having a rich color and desirable patina. The one board top has a few age cracks which are typical of blanket boxes form this type of age and construction. They only add to its charm and authenticity.
