This inlaid mahogany vanity was made by the prestigious firm, R.J. Horner of NY City. This is one of a 3 piece matching bedroom set. The carvings, inlay and attention to detail are superb! The removable shield shaped beveled mirror has a deeply carved crest of leaves and bell flowers. Notice the extravagantly carved mirror supports and extensive inlay surrounding the frame. The inlay is delicate looking and finely executed. The mirror has gilded cast brass knobs which secure the mirror which adjusts at various angles. Notice how the vanity front and sides have a Bombay shape with the 3 small top drawers concave and the side drawers having bowed fronts. The center drawer retains its original working lock and key. All the drawers have their original gilded cast brass pulls. The drawer fronts are richly inlaid using various woods such as maple and satinwood. The corners and legs are deeply and finely carved, resting on its original brass casters. Another wonderful feature is a hidden jewelry drawer cleverly disguised in the top side moulding. The tray has its original felt lining.
