This Pennsylvania country chest of drawers is from the late Sheraton period. The solid cherry dresser has some unique features. There are 2 smaller drawers over 3 larger drawers which graduate in size. All the hand dovetailed drawers have their unique bone inlaid key escutcheons and working locks. The wooden pulls are all original except one which is nearly identical. Amazingly, the chest retains its original finish, including the ebonized turned half columns on either side of the drawers. The dresser sets on tall turned feet. Notice the recessed paneled sides. All the drawers open and close smoothly. There are the expected dark stains on the top of the dresser. What a wonderful example of early Pennsylvania country furnishings.
