This hard to find small French oak wardrobe is in the Rococo style. Notice the arched crest with boldly and deeply carved flowers. The arched single door repeats the floral carvings along the 4 curvaceous recessed panels. The door retains its cast brass key escutcheon with working lock and key. Inside are 3 adjustable and removable shelves. Below is a hand dovetailed drawer with a beautifully carved front and its original cast brass pull. Notice the fancy carved apron below the drawer – lovely. The wardrobe rests on carved serpentine legs. Even the sides are recessed paneled! The finish appears original and is in excellent condition. There is a crack in one recessed panels which is quite common. This does not affect the wardrobe’s function or integrity. What a lovely piece that can function for a variety of purposes. The shelves can be easily removed and a rod or hooks attached to hang clothes, etc.
