This extremely heavy cast brass Victorian floor lamp was originally kerosene. The castings are superb and of superior quality. This is definitely not your average piano or floor lamp. The original hand painted 11” diameter shade is in rich gold, mauve, wine and green floral colors. The shade has two tiny chips below the base which is not visible when resting in the brass shade fitter. Otherwise, the shade condition is excellent. There is a 12” glass chimney as well. The decoratively embossed original brass font has a patent date of August, 1897. There are some expected light dents in the font. The lamp was sensitively electrified but with little, could be made to burn kerosene once again. The ornately cast base has a small and a large onyx decoration. The onyx is also in excellent condition. The wiring is in working, excellent condition with an on/off line switch. What a superb example of Victorian lighting.
