This French mantle clock has exquisite bronze castings. The two soldiers appear to be resting or gambling with a bag of loose coins and an overturned drum between them. The attention to detail on their faces, armor, hands and feet is exceptional. Notice the sword on the ground and the soldier holding his battle axe. If you look closely, you will see a small section of the handle is missing on the axe. The clock face rests in a black marble or slate body with the bronze figures above and additional bronze castings along the base. Notice the bronze helmets and shield with battle axes along the ornately cast base. The clock has a brass bezel with an enameled face. There is a small chip in the enamel just to right of the 12. The clock retains its original 8-day movement which is in excellent working condition. The clock gently strikes every hour and half hour and comes with its winding key and original pendulum. All of our clocks are serviced, oiled and adjusted in order to be in excellent running condition. The condition of the marble and bronze is excellent. What a statement this will make in any home or office.
