This tall case grandfather clock has some wonderful features. The solid mahogany case has a arched top bonnet with delicately turned finials. Notice the pierced carved design on the sides of the bonnet which allows the chimes to be readily heard. There are fully turned columns on either side of the glass door which retains its brass knob. Below is a beveled glass door having its original working lock and key. On either side are 2 more fully turned columns. The base has raised panels on the front and sides and rests on boldly carved paw feet. Check out the original highly decorative gilded brass pierced carved clock face with silvered dial having applied cast brass numerals. There are 2 different levers designed to silence the chimes and gong. Notice the ornate hands and the additional sweep seconds dial. Above the clock face is the original hand painted moon dial. The moon dial is designed to rotate and display the different phases of the moon. The dial also displays a sailing ship with a lighthouse and a mill next to a stream. There is some minor loss on some areas of the moon dial which is visible upon close inspection. The 8-daly German clock movement is original and in excellent working condition. The clock requires winding once a week. The beautiful sounding Westminster chimes plays ever quarter hour and strikes a deep rich gong ever hour. The clock comes with its original 3 solid brass weights and pendulum. The works have been thoroughly cleaned and serviced. What a grand piece to grace your home or office!
