This wonderful early lighting fixture was originally illuminated with kerosene or a candle.  The color, condition and styling is exceptional.  Hall fixtures, such as this, used pulleys to raise and lower themselves in order to reach and light their wicks.  The frame, pulleys and chains are solid brass.  The most notable feature is the incredible glass globe.  The raised detailing is actually a blown-out design, much like the famous Pairpoint puffy lamps.  Notice the ribbed pattern with draped garlands surrounding the shade.  Small granules of shimmering beads highlight the garlands.  Gold gilding provides additional highlighting.  There is subtle use of a royal blue color in the design.  The coloring is a deep pink fading to a pale mauve.  The size of the globe only is 9" tall.  The light is designed to hang from the brass ceiling mount.  This height can be easily shortened.  The shade is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips or loss of gilding.  The brass fixtures and chain are also in excellent condition
