This cherry tall case, grandfather clock was made by Henry Rentsheimer of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.  The case has its original swan's neck pediment with inlaid roundels and its original brass finials.  There is a small pie shaped inlay missing on one of the roundels and the crest has an old break, which has been professionally repaired and secured.  The arched top door retains its original glass and is flanked by slim columns on either side.  The original fancy brass face has the maker's name attached above the dial.  The hands are original.  In addition, there is a sweep second hand and a calendar movement, all in working condition.  The clock strikes every hour.  Inside, the mounting board, which holds the works, is a replacement.  Also, part of the frame that surrounds the face (which is only seen when you open the glass door) has been professionally replaced.  The slender clock waist has reeded canted corners and a shapely door with carved stylized fan or shell on the front.  The door has a diamond shaped key escutcheon and a working lock with key.  Inside are the original lead weights and pendulum with brass bob.  The clock rests on delicate Hepplewhite feet and a shaped skirt.  There is some chips or wood loss on the tips of the feet.  The finish is an original or older finish having a rich color and patina.  What a handsome, true Pennsylvania, tall case clock.
