This small Victorian marble top étagère is an extremely hard to find size. In addition, its condition and details make is a prize. Étagères were an important piece of furniture in the Victorian home and was designed to display the latest collection or prized china. Notice the pierced carved pediment on the top and the pierced carved galleries behind the shelves. The top finial may be a replacement. The unusual angled shaped shelves, which progress in width, mimic the shapely original marble top. Notice how the base cabinet repeats the shape – lovely! Each angled door has a recessed panel with an applied burled walnut carving. Look closely and you will notice the applied burled walnut panels at each corner of the cabinet as well. The cabinet retains its original working lock with key. Inside is a single adjustable shelf. The étagère rests on its original brass casters. The finish is original and in excellent condition having a deep, rich color and very desirable patina.
