Ship's Parlor, Cabin Stove by Murdock

  • Circa: 1900
  • Stock #: Y134
  • Measurements: 32.5"h X 18"w X 21"d
  • Price: $795.00

This exceptional tiled wood or coal stove was made by the prestigious Murdock Parlor Grate Company. The cast iron and brass frame is highlighted with 6” ceramic tiles. The tiles display sprigs of pine boughs with pine cones. The colored tiles have a soft brown, off white and blue green. We were told this stove was originally designed for a ship and would have provided heat for the cabins. This would account for the heavy duty brass legs which would have been bolted and secured to the floor to prevent any movement. The stove has an adjustable brass door that raised and lowers. There are 2 brass thumb screws which secures the door. The stove comes with its original grate and removable ash can drawer. The stove can burn coal or wood. Notice the decorative original fireplace fender. What a handsome, unique stove of exceptional quality.
