This early English ironstone motto plate is part of a series called Flowers that Never Fade. Motto plates were extremely popular in the mid 1800’s to assist in teaching children everything from religion, good behavior to their ABC’s. This particular motto plate focused on the theme “Generosity”! The motto reads: However poor, however plain, on this you may depend. The kind, the generous and the good, will never want a friend. What a wonderful teaching tool for us all to follow. The black and white transferware scene depicts children playing and sharing. The plate has a scalloped edge and is in excellent condition.
