This life size carved horse head is amazing. It appears to be carved from a single tree trunk. Its head is thrusting forward with its mouth open and nostrils flaring. Notice the deeply carved detail around the eyes, ears and flowing mane. It’s head and mane cleverly recedes into the tree round which still retains its bark along the edge. This was a skillful carver who cleverly used the shape of the trunk to accent the sculpture. There is a small split in the wood along the left cheek of the horse which is to be expected given its large size. The split does not detract from its presence and does not affect the integrity of the wood. The carving has a dark stain and natural finish which accents the details and spirit of the horse. The hanger on the back was cleverly designed to secure the large carving to the wall. What a statement this will make in any home or office!
