This Victorian writing desk or library table is in the Renaissance Revival style. The solid walnut frame has panels of dramatic burled walnut throughout. The shapely top has an inset burgundy felt top with a wide band of burled walnut. Below is a single drawer having a carved key escutcheon and its original working lock. Notice the burled walnut panels on the drawer and the other 3 sides. At each corner is a boldly carved drop finial. The table is supported by four carved legs and a boldly turned stretcher and center finial. Look closely at the applied carved elements and attention to detail. Amazingly, the stand or desk retains its original finish which is in excellent condition. The replaced felt top is also in excellent condition. The table rests on its original casters.
