This classical Empire game table has exquisite detailing. The figured mahogany top has a banded edge of flame mahogany with canted corners. Notice the dramatic flame mahogany graining on the deep skirt as well. This was originally designed to function as a game table for playing cards, chess, etc. The top rotates, then lifts and lays down making it a 36” square playing surface. The mahogany graining is striking in its appearance. The table is supported by boldly turned center pedestal surrounded by finely carved acanthus leaves throughout. The carvings are richly detailed. The four shapely legs are accented with additional acanthus leaf carvings and end in delicately carved paw feet. The table rests on its original brass casters. The finish is in superb condition having a deep, rich color.
