Check out this unusual solid oak bookcase. We call this style cowboy furniture. The tall back crest is flanked by shapely pierced carved ends. The asymmetrical design displays a short spindled gallery on one side of the top shelf and pierced carved elements of an arched door with a unique brass exterior hinge and key escutcheon. The small door has its original working lock with key. Inside is an open storage compartment. There is also a beveled glass mirror to one side. Below are 2 adjustable shelves. Originally, the bookcase had a brass rod which allowed a curtain to be affixed if desired. The rod supports are still there if you want to hide or cover shelf items. Notice the interestingly shaped carved feet. The finish appears original and in very good condition. What a fun, cleverly designed piece!
