Here is an extremely hard to find furniture item - a Victorian corner cabinet. The quality, condition and styling are the finest. The cabinet is mahogany with ebonizing and gold gilt incising. There is a delicate brass railing on top shelf, which is repeated on the second. On both shelves and either side of the mirrors are highly decorative columns. The cabinet comes in 2 sections for transporting. The top of the base cabinet has a delicate inlaid design on the outer shaped edge. Below is an elaborately carved and incised design, which is located above the sides of the door. The large glass door opens to reveal a shelf. Incredibly, the shelf, sides and bottom of the inside cabinet retains its original royal purple velvet lining. The fabric is in relatively good condition for its age and use. The door retains its original working lock. Notice the two sidepieces on the lower cabinet were originally cut out to fit against a fancy baseboard and chair railing. These were designed to easily come off and replace to follow moldings or if desired, use only a straight edge. The mirrors are original with only the slightest imperfections due to age. This cabinet requires a minimum of 26" of wall space from the corner out to each adjoining wall. The finish is in excellent original condition.
