This is one of the finest Empire style vanities we have owned. The design detailing and quality is superb. The mahogany vanity retains its original removable mirror which tilts as needed. The mirror supports are cornucopias or horns of plenty accented with carved acanthus leaves and filled with finely carved fruits. The vanity has a shaped top with 5 hand dovetailed drawers. The drawers have flame mahogany fronts. Notice the lower concave hidden bottom drawer. The other 4 drawers have their original working locks and decorative cast brass pulls. The vanity rests on a deeply and highly carved shapely base accented with acanthus leaves throughout. Notice the exquisitely carved paw feet as well. The finish appears to be original and in excellent condition having the richest color and patina. There are some minor rubs and scratches on the top of the vanity which is to be expected and none are distracting or offensive. What a beauty this is.
