This Victorian hall seat or music chair is from the Renaissance Revival period and is made of solid walnut. This is one of a matching pair. The top crest is boldly carved and is supported by carved uprights with applied panels of burled walnut. Notice the upholstered half-moon shaped back cushion. The upholstered seat lifts up to reveal a storage area for sheet music - or how about gloves or mittens? The base is extensively carved and has more small applied panels of burled walnut throughout. Notice the boldly turned stretchers on the sides as well. The upholstery and brass tacks are in very good condition. The chair’s finish has a deep, rich color and patina and is also in excellent condition. The chair frame is extremely tight and sturdy.
