What a rare and wonderful piece of child or doll size furniture.  This Empire chest of drawers appears to be mahogany, but is actually grained painted.  It is amazing that the original painted surface has survived and is in such great condition.  The ogee shaped mirror tilts and has shapely mirror supports.  On either side are tiny glove boxes with carved wooden knobs.  The drawer on the right is missing one of its knobs.  The dresser base has one moulded drawer front over 3, rolled drawer fronts.  Notice how the faux grained drawer fronts are painted to make them appear to have used one continuous flame mahogany board... beautiful!  The case rests on carved rolled or scrolled feet.  Small, complicated dressers, such as this, are perfect for use as a jewelry box.
