This unique Victorian silver plate dish is referred to as a bride’s basket and was popular as wedding gift in the late 1800’s. The articulated handle folds to either side. Notice the detailed repousse’ design of a cluster of cherries in the bowl. Along the edge of the basket is a beautiful pierced design having pairs of love birds. There is a subtle monogram near the cherry design. The basket is marked Pairpoint Quadruple plate, silver plate. Pairpoint was a prominent and important silver manufacturer during this time period. Remarkably, the plating is in excellent condition. The frame is also in excellent condition.
