This solid walnut bookcase or breakfront is amazing. Its elegant style is from the Renaissance Revival Victorian period but would easily compliment a variety of other style including contemporary and modern. The cabinet would serve a variety of purposes such as a library bookcase, china cabinet or display/collections cabinet. It comes apart in 4 main pieces with the base being the largest piece. The base cabinet does come apart into an additional 3 pieces but we didn't find it necessary in order to move it. The four shapely glass doors have a carved cartouche at the top with raised burled walnut panels. Each door has an unusual carved wooden key escutcheon and working lock. The 2 end doors each have 3 adjustable shelves which measure 13” deep by 22” wide. Each of the two center doors also have 3 adjustable shelves which measure 13” deep by 23” wide. Above the top doors is a boldly designed cornice. Notice the sides of the cabinet which have recessed panels. The stepped out base has 4 paneled doors with burled walnut fronts and a repeat of the carved cartouche and raised panels found on the doors above. All the doors have the same carved key escutcheon and their working locks. The outside doors have a total of 3 adjustable shelves which measure 21” deep by 22” wide. The two center bottom doors have a total of one adjustable shelf measuring 22” deep by 23” wide. Please note that we have 3 additional original shelves which will fit in the top part of the bookcase. The breakfront has a fabulous finish having a deep, rich color and desirable patina. The glass also appears original and is in excellent condition. What a handsome piece of furniture which will make a statement in any home or office.
