This is a wonderful inlaid Classical Empire game table. The mahogany is exceptional. Look closely at the top where highly figured mahogany is cut in pie shapes to create a wonderful design. The top is also banded along the outside. The corners are canted and the skirt has a deep concave shaped moulding. The top is designed to turn and open up to reveal a square gaming surface. Now check out the dramatic flaming of the mahogany wood and repeat of the wide banding along the 4 sides. Now check out the 6 sided pedestal with the delicate brass inlay. What a beauty! The pedestal rests on a base having additional delicate brass inlay which accents its dramatic base. The table is supported by 4 boldly and finely carved paw feet with acanthus leaves just above them. The finish is in fantastic condition having the deepest, richest color and patina.
