This enormous solid mahogany server would make an exceptional back bar! The sideboard comes in 2 pieces; the top shelf and the base. The back shelf is supported by 4 fully turned fluted columns with finely carved Corinthian capitals. The height from the base to the bottom of the top shelf is 18.25”. Check out the dramatic flame mahogany graining on the back board and top of the base – incredible! The base has an elegantly bowed front with a carved egg and dart molding. There are 2 small drawers flanking a large center drawer. All have bowed fronts; original cast brass pulls; hand dovetailed construction and working locks with key. Below are 4 half columns with carved Ionic capitals. Check out the open storage shelf area with carved framed molding. On either side are large bowed front doors having their original working locks. Notice how all the doors and drawers have a rich flame mahogany graining. The areas inside the doors have been altered. Originally they were open, each having an adjustable shelf. The door on the left still retains its original shelf. Below the shelf is a custom made pull out drawer which was added later. On the right side are 2 more pull out drawers. We can arrange to replace the drawers with a shelf if desired. The sideboard rests on 6 boldly carved ball and claw feet. If you look closely you will see a small ½” piece of capital carving that is missing on the very back left column and part of a claw on the bottom left back foot. There is a ¾” repair on the front right carved capital. This is only visible upon close examination. The sideboard retains its original finish which is in excellent condition having a deep, rich color and desirable patina.
