This rare floor model terrestrial globe was made by the prestigious A. H. Andrew’s & Co, Chicago, IL. The company’s cartouche is located in the Pacific Ocean. The walnut Victorian period stand appears to have its original finish which is in great condition. There is fine Eastlake incised carving throughout the tripod base. Notice the carved capitals on the columns. The globe comes with its original stretcher brass encased compass. The brass horizon band has its demarcations. The globe easily spins but we have not been able to adjust it so the axis can rotate as well. The paper map covering has darkened with age but still readable. There are some scuffed areas on the map areas but no breaks or gouges. The frame rests on its original brass casters with encased balls. Two of the glass balls have been replace with wooden balls. All in all, this rare globe is in remarkable condition and a treat to own!
